Had to drain the walleye pond to make sure there were no walleye left. If one walleye survives the winter, it will feast on the babies we raise next year. The pond has to be completely drained and dried to ensure everything is dead. Today we found an assortment of frogs, turtles, dragonfly larvae, crayfish, mud puppies and 6 walleye. All but one died in the struggle to free them from the muck We put this big frog in a garbage can with 5 turtles and some crayfish and released them in another pond. All the mud puppies were left for the herons as were the countless frogs and helgarmites. Damm things bite!! Looking forward to next year although the last 2 days were spent slopping around in the stinky muck but it's all worth it if I catch a walleye in the Welland River this summer
