Always a refreshing time of year. The falling leaves and damp wood add an aroma to the air that brings comfort when daylight hours are dwindling. Look for a variety of Mushrooms and learn which are edible and which ones not to touch! Get them before the ATV's do . Last year I found an enormous Giant American Puffball where there was none 2 days before. I decided to wait another day to take a picture so it could reach it's full potential first. The next day I returned to find mushroom gravy all over the forest floor. Buy a mushroom guide before eating them. There are some poisonous enough to send you to the emergency simply by touching them. Then there are the ones that just do this to you Fry slices of puffball in butter with onions or cover them in gravy :-XThe sun is rising time to go see what's come up over the night. Get out there and bring the kids and teach them how to find, identify and cook these free natural treats. :)Dan
