Well sometimes you just gotta hit the little ponds in the middle of the bush just to see what's in there. We found this little pond while mapping out a wetland. I have no idea where the fish go in the winter because it is so shallow everywhere. To catch big fish you don't need big bait. For carp try little red worms as opposed to big earth worms. Carp are used to eating snails, weeds and bugs. Your better off using a small trout hook with tiny red worms and little to no weight. There are a variety of fish in this pond but only carp took the bait this weekend. We could see the catfish bullying the weed lines and I suspect there were bass and pan fish but they were too smart this day. Next time your fishing a small stream or pond, try a small leach imitation or just a bug on a hook. I've seen some huge trout come on a fly proving bigger isn't always better. Dan
